Well, Well, Well. Look Who Decided to Come Home.
June 2nd, 2010I had a heck of a time getting a picture - she tried to hide them under a bench in the run - but if you look closely you may see all five of the babies she dragged home today. I’m not complaining. It could have been much worse. I expected her to hatch out a dozen of those eggs.
The other Hamburg mama is doing great with her four.
Today is the first time since March that I do not have broodies setting on eggs. I think we all can use this little break.

Well, I am glad everyone is safe and sound and back at home!
(That previous photo of her with Mr. Turtle was adorable!)

For some reason the title makes me want to say “wagging their tails behind them” LOL
Hens amaze me just like any other creature here on earth…..we all like our space when we have something we want all to ourselves, then we come out of “hiding” when we want to “share”
I could get so deep at this point but I think I’ll have another glass instead….;0)
Love You!!!
You are the best chicken mommy in the whole wide world!!!!

You had TWO broody hamburgs?!? I thought there was only one! Well! That explains the post about the hamburg in the woods after you posted one about the other hatching her chicks. I was confused there for a second. I thought maybe the 1st had lost her clutch and went back to sitting in the woods or something. Well, good luck with the chicks. I’m down to two over here, and hopefully they’ll be little girls. lol

Aww your babies and their Mommas are so sweet. I have my second broody hen now. My 1st one hatched 3 and one died. So far this one has hatched 1 today. I plan on being sneaky and sticking a few Buff Orpingtons under her next week. I am so bad but my White Jersey Giants seem to be such good good Mommas.
