For any of you that have never had the pleasure of meeting any of this family, let me inlighten you. In my opinion they are SOLID GOLD. I know, I have lived next door to William & Lilly for nigh on 10 years, and have met the "Kids". I am the one that submitted the photo and christen it the Pink Papaw Mobile.

I am proud to call these folks my friends, and an extended part of my family.

Love ya'll

Penny is my sister, so I must first tell you that she has always been filled with words that describe how she see's the world. At times, each member of our family has been on the receiving end of her sometimes slightly exaggerated stories.

But, I have to say, she's right on about this one. One of the things that I have always admired about my dad is that he really does not care what other people think of him. This has made him one of the smartest people I know. When we were young, before the days of throwing out something that didn't work because it was cheaper to replace, we never got anything new. Broken clock, he fixed it. Broken blow dryer, he fixed it. He is self taught and filled with the knowledge needed to build a house or anything else he puts his mind to. He has a ton of common sense and loves to fish.

Now, as for the pink scooter, I never thought I'd see the day. I suggested he donate it to me since it was pink, and he explained to me how he had one of the coolest cars back in the 50's painted pink and gray and how everyone loved it. He told me pink was one of his favorite colors. I teased him about it, but he proceeded to tell me the story about his pink and gray car and how it was the envy of every one who saw it. I told him I'd get him a pink t-shirt for Christmas. My daughter, Christina, threatened to buy him a pink helmet. He took our teasing him and stride and continued to do exactly what he intended to do. He picked up his pink scooter and took to the road. He told me he had a scooter when he was a young teen, so I think he's doing what we all do as we grow older. Living out our second childhood!! You go dad. You're way too cool for that scooter!!!

My Papaw on a pink scooter?? I am a little more keen in the fashion department so I wasn't so sure about the red flannel shirt with the pink scooter...but I guess that just says more about my Papaw. He has enough confidence to ride it! It's really not about the confidence. To him it is free transportation or in his words " it was the right price" and he doesn't care what anyone else thinks! So as my favorite aunt Penny says...My papaw does totally rock!!!!
