Ah, County Fairs. There’s just nothing like County Fairs…… and Greased Pig contests.
There’s lots of running
And intimidation
And grabbing
And pulling
And a little disappointment
But it’s all good.
It promotes agriculture.
It teaches responsibility.
And it’s entertainment.
All in all, not a bad market day for a little piggy.

Luv his shoes!
I know! Aren’t those cute??? That’s our neighbor boy – the whole reason we went this year. He turned 4 the beginning of August. He didn’t get a pig – and he was a little sad about that. But we told him he did the best he could and that’s all anyone expected. At the cookout people asked him about it and he said “I just did the best I could”. He’s a cute little bugger!
G has boots just like those.
But, I have to say that Im thinkin that I dont like this run after the pig thing. Arent those little piglets scared? And then they get pulled about on their itty bitty legs like that?
Frugalmom – I know what you mean. The little piglets are scared, I’m sure. But they are not hurt. There are adults in the ring to watch out for that. And, honestly, the fate of those little piglets was a LOT scarier than it is now. The kids are given a little lesson in caring for pigs, and the responsibilities and obligations of taking it into their care before they are allowed to leave with it. I’m fairly sure most of the pigs will end up in the freezer – but they were headed there – one way or the other.
oh my, that poor little piggie looks like its in the wheelbarrow race LOL
