I make my living as a computer programmer, more or less. I’m a PeopleSoft consultant and program on HR/Payroll projects. I’m extremely fortunate to have been working for my current client since somewhere around 1999/2000, and they now allow me to work from home. I do have to make the journey into the BIG CITY 4 or 5 times a year, but I certainly can’t complain about that – although I still do, on occasion

I never thought I’d be a home body. But since moving to our homestead, that is exactly what I’ve become. There’s no where I am happier and more full of peace.

I can’t wait to get the puppies home with us! It’s been many years since we had puppies in our home – our Springer Spaniel was the last, and we had him with us until he died of old age a few years ago. We’ve missed having dogs, and I’m glad we’ll have the time to spend with these now.

By the way, I’m a bit of a homebody, too. I just love hanging out at my house, with my critters and hubby, and piddling around the house and yard. I long for the day when I can do it fulltime. Which brings me to a question, Penny. What do you do for a living that allows you to work from home?

What month is your birthday, Chainsaw?

I’ve made a vow, even though I don’t normally “celebrate” my B-days anymore, to do my 50th up as hard as possible – to the point that I have to be scraped up with a snow shovel and be dumped into bed – shouldn’t take ’til about 9:30 to 10:00pm to accomplish that.
I am truly surprised that I made it this far.

This years B-day falls on Friday the 13th so, if I leave the yard, I bes’ be havin’ me a D.D.

I try to be a purist as far as dinner is concerned. I want everything fresh and homemade. I usually fail. I make a good effort, though….but I have to admit:

Hamburger Helper is actually GOOD ! I hate to say it, but in a pinch it will do you a dinner real fine.

Martha Stewart is probably sending me little death rays right now, though they are probably tastefully wrapped in a flaky crust.

Surprisingly, worrying about turning the big five oh was actually worse than waking up and being five oh. As odd as it sounds, it was rather anti-climatic. So go ahead and start fretting about it now – and then you’ll finally reach the day, wake up old, and get on with life. Only as an old person.

I get the opp to look at five-oh in ’09 my-danged-self.

Shirley has taken to saving food stained recipes we’ve tried from online and printed out to dictate our dinner diversity.

It works.

The truth is that Bernie does on occasion make supper. Usually it’s grilled cheese sandwiches, but I’m not complaining. If I give him step-by-step instructions, he can even cook up more complex things – like soup. But sometimes it’s easier just to go in and cook it myself. He is a GREAT help in the kitchen, though. And regularly cuts up the veggies, sautes the onions, browns the meat, etc.

Frugalmom – I hope you’re ok! Bet you are stiff this morning. This ice is getting out of control, isn’t it? I did the same thing walking on ice out to the compost pile one morning about two years ago. My feel flew up so high I saw them in front of my face before I landed! I was sore for two weeks. I hope you didn’t get hurt too bad. Maybe your husband will take pity on you and make supper tonight……

Speaking of ice….I stepped off my porch this morn and my feet flew out from under me and I landed on my ass….back…head….yeah, all of that.

Good times, I say. Good thing were both still young!
