I mentioned that I’m keeping the turkeys in their coop for a couple of weeks until they learn to think of it as their new home. There are a couple of small windows in the coop, but the turkeys really can’t see out of them. I wanted them to be able to look outside and begin to get comfortable with some of the things they’ll be seeing on a daily basis. So this morning, we made a little wire insert so we can open the coop door and the wire will allow the turkeys to look outside and get some fresh air.
They seemed to like it.
Bernie sat and watched them a while.
You can see the goats over his shoulder below. The turkeys look out into the goat yard from their door.
When we finished with the wire window, we started working on a frame for a backyard sink and cabinet.
It’ll be closed in so I can store the things I use to clean animal feeders and waterers. Bernie is about sick to death of me using the air conditioner unit as my “table”.
We ran out of scraps, so we stopped for the day. One more piece of OSB should finish it up.
I haven’t shown pictures of the pups lately, so I took a few when we went down on our mail run earlier.
They have gotten so big.
They love the daily mail run – even when it’s Sunday and there is no mail to get.
Sweet pups.
Wow – two posts in as many days! Maybe I’ll get back on track with this blog after all

Love the pictures! The turkeys look happy, so do the pups.
I have some pictures to post for you, but I need to put them on my blog. Maybe I’ll get the chance to post some time this week. I’d love to come up to see you, it’s so beautiful! I saw in one of the pics that y’all have golden rod starting to bloom too. Ours here is just starting and the girls are bizzy again. We were in a dry spell for a while. Have you found an apiary to order from yet? We’re hearing that with such a high demand this year it’s going to be tough finding packages. We have a meeting to go to tomorrow night, so I’ll find out more. We haven’t been going to the meetings…..it’s the same thing here as it is up there (what you were telling me about before). I’ll call you about it, it’s to much to get into on here.
I Love and miss you!
Julie
Julie – The goldenrod is just coming in. Surprises me it’s on the same schedule here as there! You just don’t know what I’d give to have you come visit
I didn’t find a local apiary to order from yet. I sent out two emails to local clubs, but no response
There are a couple of events coming up in October that I put on the calendar and plan to attend – maybe I can corner a few and get some answers! Either way, I plan to order by the end of next week. I prefer to find some locally, but I’ll order from Georgia if that doesn’t pan out. Love and miss you!
Penny, we had such a great time with you and Bernie. I love that you are spoiling the turkeys. I love that Bernie is happy with them, too. I never feel guilty when I send birds to a new home and I know they will be loved as much as we love them. P.S. They like popcorn, too.
It was such a fun time with you and your family, Angie. Little Steven is such a cutie
And your girls are beautiful inside and out. And Steve is so easy to be around. Bernie LOVES these turkeys. I’m really in awe at how much time he is spending with them. They are so sweet and gentle. We don’t eat much popcorn, but I may have to make some for the turkeys
I’m so in AWE of all you guys have done. We’re so out of space on our little city lot…I can’t wait until the day we have our own slice of heaven like yours.
Love all the new photos & that your family there is getting bigger
It is Great that you posted 2 days in a row. love you 2 so much.
