We have had not for months proper hot sunny (unknown in England) week upon weeks of brill weather, with just the odd overcast day….. and all veggies have taken off and have gone MENTAL over here…..

Oh my goodness those are PURDY! I don’t think I will get any cukes this year (dangit) really fighting the heat, but I have loads of tomatoes that should ripen in the next few weeks so will have sauce and salsa coming out my ears.

I did some canning last summer and still have some leftover. It was a heck of a lot of work. Yours look wonderful. I’ll bet B. loves having them around to snack on.

Have you ever had pickled squash Penny? I used to pickle them when the boys were little, it was the only way I could get them to eat squash. I pickled some this year alog with cuckes. I made hot sweet pickles that we ate before I could say I’ve pickled them. This is the first year in a long time I’ve had a garden that made anything.

You have beautiful cucumbers. I got about four or five off my vines before they dried up. I haven’t made pickles in several years. Maybe next year I’ll have enough to pickle.

Penny, your cukes look mah-va-lush!! We got our garden in rather late, so we are only getting radishes right now. I think the cukes will be next. The plants are getting big and are starting to put out tendrils. There are two small tomatoes on our plants, but the tomato plants look like they are doing well so far, so I’m hoping for a good harvest. I have canning plans on the horizon. I’ve never canned before, so this is going to be great fun!!

I made my first batch of cucumber soup… heaven!
Hopefully I’ll be canning salsa this year…. only cherry tomatoes getting ripe thus far.

Oh man! My cucumber plants are still just itty bitty things…I cant wait to taste a fresh cucumber

I was looking at my journal from last season and this time last year(in IL) we were already getting pickling cukes….Every gardening season is so different.

Im gonna have to stock up on my bread and butters again.
