Happy Little Gift

January 19th, 2010

Have I mentioned lately how incredibly muddy it is here these days? Well, it’s muddy. So muddy that it makes the thought of working outside pretty much unbearable. So today Bernie did a few chores inside the house and then told me he’d be working outside in his barn shed.

And a couple of hours later he came inside and presented me with this.

cedar box

Is that not the cutest little box you’ve ever seen??? I haven’t decided what I’ll store it in yet. A box this precious needs to be home to something pretty special, don’t you think?

I asked Elvis what he thought I should store in this amazing little box.

Elvis

And he said “Kitty treats”. Hmmmmmmm. What do you think?

I love it, B is so sweet.

    Now whos spoiled? Huh?

That was a super nice thing to do, Bernie…making that sweet little box for Penny. :-)

And I think it would be great to store m&m’s in.

  3. CeeCee Says:

Oooo,. I can smell it’s cedar goodness from here.
Tell Elvis that kitty treats would get oil on the box. :) Cedar and fishiness don’t mix.

I think that look on Elvis’ face means he is serious! And you know what kind of other “treats” he might leave in the box if you don’t follow his orders!…..LOL…. That picture is hilarious, pets are the best.

Lovely box, from that humble husband that says he is not a woodworker! Me thinks he doth protest too much. It is just beautiful. Since it is cedar, if it were me, I would just keep my nose in it.

Got your msg and will send you a “Green Valentine” in a couple weeks.

Charlotte - he really is a sweetie, isn’t he? *sigh*

Frugalmom - Don’t be trying to turn the tables on me! You’re the spoiled one for sure…. but you are right. It’s such a sweet little box. And M&Ms would be quite nice in there, wouldn’t they….

CeeCee - oh, it smells SO nice! And not to worry…. this is MY box… Elvis doesn’t really get a vote…. but don’t tell him, okay?

Katey - your nice comments on Bernie’s wood work always mean a lot to him - coming from you and all. And until I figure what to store in it, it sits here beside me - so I can open and smell it every now and again…. I look forward to the “Green Valentine”!!!

What a lovely box! I love the smell of cedar. I’m sure you’ll find something special to keep in it - maybe a picture of Elvis.

Now that is the sweetest little box, I would have a hard time finding what to put in there. The smell is gonna make anything you put in there smell extra nice. I would use it as little ’save for a rainy day’ fund and store money in there and then the money would smell great.

YOu are lucky to have Bernie, he loves you so very much and I can tell by the way you talk of him the feeling is mutual.

I had to come a different route to get this to post (at least I hope it posts this time) But in doing so I think I found out what has been happening. I’ll let you know…

I love the box! Bernie is so talented! Is the cedar from one of the trees on y’all’s property?
The smell of cedar is heavenly……we have a huge tree right next to our front porch, I love it.
I have to agree with Lisa I’d make it into a “rainy day” box.
    Love Ya!

What a wonderful gift! I took a poll about what to put inside and my cats agree with Elvis, although the chickens are thinking more along the lines of worms and other goodies.

I would put a photo of B. in there since he is a treasure :)

SVB - I asked Elvis, and he agrees with you ;-)

Lisa -Awwww. You’re so sweet. I still can not decide what to use this precious box for…..

Julie - It’s a cedar from the neighbor’s property that bumps into ours. Bernie milled some boards for him out of a tree he had - and then B made some things out of the scraps.

Staci - I’ve got the same problem here! The cats say kitty treats, the chickens say worms, and the pups say to just give it to them to chew on!

Charlotte - Awwwwww - that is so danged sweet! I must agree with you. Bernie is indeed a treasure. The nicest one I have ;-)

  12. Oz Girl Says:

Yep, it is getting to be the season of mud. Blech! Elvis is a sweetheart and I can understand his concern that he thinks you should put cat treats in your lovely new box. But seriously, I think I like Lisa’s idea to save money in the box, then your money will smell divine…. besides, you don’t want anything else like potpourri or salmon treats competing for that cedar smell!

Hope you and Bernie are having a good weekend. :)
