This afternoon I checked on the broody setting on eggs in the woods. She must have gotten lonely.
I think I heard her chatting with that turtle as I walked up on them.

Awwww, that’s so cute! Good eye, Penny. I wonder what she thought when that guy came over to chat. Hopefully she’s fluent in “turtle”.
Just getting tips on how to get the eggs outer shells a little harder.

Seriously, Ben? I was alarmed at first, but the hen seemed really calm. The turtle moved on. But I did notice an egg shell a little ways off from the nest earlier in the day. Turtles eat bird eggs????
Well, I am making an assumption. Snakes eat bird eggs. Snakes are reptiles. Turtles are reptiles. So, I think its possible that the turtle would eat the chicken eggs.
Just did a search and its seems turtles do eat eggs and in fact some eat whole birds!! Of course it depends on the turtle.

I did not know that turtles ate bird eggs either, good to know. I understand they really like strawberries too. Turtle buffet at my place!

that is so cute.
I’ve been keeping an eye open for that turtle all day, but no sign of it. I’m afraid I’ll have to relocate it if it shows up again. We’ve got a nice pond about a mile up the road. So sad. I think the hen really likes that turtle……
