Fire? Bleah, It is 93 degrees here in Sunny California with 100′s expected alter this week, sigh. http://www.mymotherlode.com/weather/

It would be nice to see cool weather after this long hot summer.

That sounds like the beginning of a lot of wonderful mischief. Dolly Had a Plan.

We finally gave in and started the gas logs in the living room. It was just too cold.

The weather has been kooky here this year. Yesterday was rainy and mid 60′s. Today is supposed to be sunny and mid 80s. The pups prefer the cooler weather, but anything below 80 feels like winter to me!

Dolly is oh-so-adorable and so are your kitties. What a wonderful blog and website. I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. We have 26 acres and I keep thinking we could be way more self-sufficient than we are. I’m curious what part of the country you live in? We live in south central Kansas.

I’ve been meaning to take a peek at some of my new followers’ blogs, and the first one I clicked on did not have a link to her blog (if she even has one) but she was following a ton of blogs and yours was the first one. You can see I’m easily sidetracked…. LOL.

Have a wonderful Friday, and I’m excited to follow your adventures!

Oz Girl – we live in Virginia. In my “other life” I used to travel, Sunday night – Thursday night, to Topeka, Kansas – I did that for 3 years. While I do NOT miss the travel, I do miss Kansas. I LOVED it there and we were “this close” to buying a farm and moving there a few years ago. And imagine my complete shock and honor when I clicked on your blog and found you had written about mu website and blog! Wow. And I DO mean WOW! It’s completely undeserved, but I will have my head in the cloud for days ;-) Thank you! And thank you for leaving a comment. You have made my week!

  8. Oh my, what wonderful cute photos to open me computer to this morning…… I can tell here there is a nip in the air cos me 2 cats are finding laps and snuggly places to curl up and sleep on :)

On saying that, yesterday during the day, it was soooo hot, well, hot for jolly old England :)

I think that dog bed that Dollys laying on looks mighty cozy. Right next to the fireplace, too. Warm and cozy? She will for sure have to share that. Not just with the cats tho, more like me, too!!!

Precious photos! We’re to get a cold front late this afternoon-will see what my dog and cat do. Lucy, the kitty, pretends to hate Lucky, the dog, UNTIL she gets cold! Then she’s all cuddles. What fun our pets are. They never fail to put a smile on my face. Your photos of your pets do the same for me. I love them.
    Take care…..

Hahaha I love it! I’d cuddle with them for sure, they’re too cute to pass up!

  12. I found your blog through Oz Girl’s blog and I’ve been enjoying it. I believe in all you are trying to do and we live our life the same way.

Isn’t it great how we all network through our blogs, and find each other?!

I would love a wood-burning fireplace in the house, and get rid of our propane tank… but I think I might push the envelope with hubby if I suggest that, LOL.

I did find a way to get the chickens I want… I told him this weekend that I want to get another dog, a dalmatian specifically, next spring. I miss my old dal buddy! He was shocked, and then I asked well, how about those chickens then?! Needless to say, he was all for the chickens then. LOL I told him it’s because he thinks they won’t live long, huh? (he feels they will just end up as coyote bait)

We had a good weekend, hope you guys did too! :)

Marmy – a cat looking for a lap is a sure sign of cooler weather! I do love my cats. But they are still a little miffed about Dolly and Diesel joining the ranks around here. Cats can sure hold a grudge! XXXOOO

Frugalmom – I’ve been known to cuddle on a dog bed or two. But honestly? NOTHING looks as warm and inviting as a cat. The difference is, they don’t usually cuddle as well. Not unless they want to. And ONLY if they want to.

Cotton Lady – Amen! I wouldn’t know what to do without animals in the house. Our cats pretend to hate the dogs too. But that’s what cats do – and I think the dogs are figuring it out ;-)

Nicloe – they’re pretty cuddly. At least the dogs are. The cats will occasionally grace us with their presence on our laps. And all Dolly wants in the world is to cuddle with those cats!

SVB – thank you! I know I think they are the cutest things ever – but I’m their mama. I always tell Bernie “SEE – they really are the cutest things on the face of the earth” And then he says “That’s not what she said”. And then I say “Well, it’s what she MEANT”. So thank you!

MountainWoman – thank you for stopping by! We’re not there yet – but we’re making baby steps in the right direction. Most of the time. Sometimes I feel like we’re walking backwards, but we’re trying. Please come back to visit.

Oz Girl – I do love my blog friends! Fun group of people – and hard to believe most of us have never met! I do love my fire place, but we actually rarely use it. Mostly only during this time of year when it’s too cool for no heat at all, and not quite cool enough for the wood burning stove. The wood burner is what we heat with in the winter, and I love, love, LOVE that baby. And hey – you are a woman after my own heart! What a GREAT way to get your chickens! Start out with something he considers utterly absurd, and throw in a compromise he’ll happily accept! Excellent – you rock!
