Love your pictures. Here in Northern Canada we live like this all the time but you get more beauty where you are because once we freeze in that’s it… no melting to make things pretty.
My poor chickys stay in their little house most days and when it does get warm enough to even open the door for them, they still choose to stay inside and enjoy the sun from there. ( we have heat lamps to keep them and their water from freezing)
I really love the idea of you carring your poor Duke out to his favorite spot. I have one little banty rooster who flew out the door when I opened it one morning – just to get out and away from the others!!! Talk about cabin fever – maybe I should say coop fever!

Thanks, Julie. It’s not easy finding roses under feet of snow, but I’m looking!

Lisa – With so much snow on the ground there aren’t many places for the chickens to go. Pico and Bobby Lee won’t let Duke stay in the coop or run during the day, so first thing each morning I pick him up and put him under Bernie’s truck – for some reason that’s his favorite spot. I put some food and scratch under there with him and a few girls usually wander over and spend the day with him.

CeeCee – the one really big icicle was so much more interesting than I could capture in a picture. The top part of it is actually not round at all. It kind of looks flat and twisted like stretched taffy. For some reason, the camera couldn’t capture that. At any rate, the bends and twists are caused by melting snow being blown by wind and frozen that way. Does that make sense?

We are at this time waiting for another snow storm to hit us. Oh boy! kids out another day of school. I always have loved the look of the snow and the ice when things have calmed down.
