Last Saturday, we awoke to a bunch of this.
But not everyone was disappointed about it.
Some of us got down right frisky about it.
The chickens refused to leave the coop most of the day. This girl FLEW out into the yard, and then just sat there, as if in shock.
I went to pick her up, and she FLEW back into the run, clucking and fussing the whole way.
A few days later, that snow was followed by an inch or two of slush. We’ve still got some of that mess on the ground…..
On the upside, look at what I got in the mail!
Home made puppy treats from Lazy G Ranch!
I follow Susan’s blog, and she posted that she had started a new blog to launch her new business – The Lazy G Ranch. Susan makes wonderful dog treats, made with organic ingredients. So I popped over to check it out, and I left a message. Well, imagine how tickled I was when she wrote to tell me that since I was the first to comment, she was sending me a sampler package of dog treats.
I’ve got to tell you, my pups LOVE these treats. And while they would probably have a hard time picking a favorite, I’m going to say, based on how fast their tail wags when they see me coming with them, they are probably partial to Trixie Lou’s Cheesers. These things have REAL cheese people!
Pop on over and check out The Lazy G Ranch. Susan’s still baking and shipping to get orders delivered by Christmas – but there’s not much time left…….
Can you believe Christmas is almost here already? I’m still trying to believe we got a bunch of snow two weeks before winter has even officially arrived!
I’m tired of it already. And it’s only December…….

I love that pic of your chicken – how funny! And dogs…. they ALWAYS love snow, don’t they? Unless they are little lap dogs, then not so much. I know mine really love to burrow and play in the snow. They are so much fun to watch… from inside the house, LOL.
Hey, thanks for the biscuit exposure and I have to agree. I think mine like the cheesers best too! I have added beef broth to my most recent bath of the breath mints and I think they like them better now.
So you and Elinor, you were talking about my new business venture, right? LOL…..
Wow! That was an early xmas present for the pups, huh? That was so sweet of her to send you a little sampler like that.
As for the snow, well, you can keep it. I dont want it. It does look pretty on your trees. But I dont have any trees, so it wont look pretty over here.
oh my how pretty, so very pretty…… love the chicken in the snow lmfao
I was looking at a book in a bookshop in town yesterday called Cooking Treats for your Dog, or something like that…….. I really wished I had bought it now, except I dont have a dog LMFAO
x
Great pictures !
I’m with you–No snow until it’s officially winter.
I guess the dogs don’t keep a calendar and they can be excited about it if they want.
All that and you speak German??? I bow to the Queen! I come from a German family but can only count to 10, I think. My Nikki loves the snow too! She just goes nuts when she can play in the snow. Those treats look great, will have to check out the website. Sending picx of the farm to you today………ok it took me awhile to figure out the whole getting them into the puter thing. Sometimes I am such a dork!
Love your snow pictures. All we’ve gotten is rain and more rain – which is not near as pretty.
Captain and George enjoy romping in the snow as much as Dolly and Diesel! That chicken picture was funny. I bet she was wondering what the heck she had gotten herself into. Wow, I’m impressed with your fluent German as well. You never cease to amaze Penny!
Oz Girl – precisely! Elinor and I were discussing how wonderful the Lazy G Ranch is! We both agree. YOU ROCK!
Frugalmom – Snow is NOT at all cool if you have no trees. You don’t need snow. I’ll have a chat with Mother Nature. She’s a close friend of mine, you know?
Marmy – you ALWAYS make me laugh! Well buy the danged book, and get your limey butt over here to help me out on this homestead! We will add goats and turkeys this spring. I need you!!!!
Shirley – thanks. These pups are very photogenic!
CeeCee – Right? I mean fair is fair, and winter is not until this Monday dangit! But yea, we’ll give the pups a break…..
Katey – when I was very young, I spoke fluent German. But I’ve lost it over the years. Elinor and her family are like family to us. We met them in the early 1960s when my dad was stationed there. We have kept in touch every since. Today I use a translator to write with her. But when we speak on the phone we understand each other perfectly! And she speaks beautiful English as well. Oh, and I did get your pictures. TOTALLY awesome! I am SO happy for you! I sent you and reply – I hope you got it?
SVB – well, I wonder if you are only having rain TODAY?? I think it’s snowing every where in Virginia. Heaven knows we’ve gotten our yearly allotment all in one day! If you are getting it, I hope you are enjoying it. Some people do.
Lilla – these pups even have ME out in the snow! They love it. And I love watching them in it. They are such a hoot! As for the fluent German, see my comment to Katey
