24 Hours Can Seem Like a Lifetime
May 17th, 2009Tomorrow we will drop Diesel and Dolly off at the vet’s office at 8:30AM. They are getting “fixed”. And we are just dreading it. We’re not dreading the “fixed” part of it. We’re big advocates of spaying/neutering pets. We’re dreading the part where Diesel and Dolly have to stay over night at the vet’s office.
That’s 24 hours without Dolly crawling up in our laps - even though Dolly is WAY to big to be a lap dog.
It’s 24 hours without seeing Diesel smile at us - and Diesel has the best smile ever.
24 hours without watching these puppies run with wreckless abandon.
24 hours without puppy kisses.
24 hours without our sweet Diesel and Dolly.
It seems like a lifetime.
We miss them already.
I’m sure Diesel and Dolly will be just fine.
I’m not so sure about Bernie and me.
24 hours can seem like a lifetime.
Bee Free,
Penny

Dont worry. All will be well and they will be back before you know it. You best get those sandals put away this time, cuz they will have some stored up energy!….Im just sayin.

Hi Frugalmom - I dread it for you, too. Amazing how those little buggers can wrap themselves around your heart. I just hate they can’t understand what will be happening and why they are in a strange place all night. But you are right, it will be over before we know it and they’ll be home getting into the cat food and chewing on shoes.

I totally understand. I prefer not to leave our pets at the vet overnight, unless it’s absolutely necessary, as is your case. I, too, wonder what goes through their little minds and if they think we are abandoning them.
Never fear, they will be back home tomorrow and back to sitting in your lap and smiling that smile. And, congratulations to you and Bernie for being such responsible pet parents. Spaying and neutering is one of my “pet peeves”. All you have to do is take a tour of any local shelter to see that there are too many unwanted and unloved animals out there that were dumped when they became inconvenient. OK, off my soapbox now.
Hang in there!

Lilla - That’s the worse part to me - that they just don’t understand why they aren’t at home. Breaks my heart.
But on a good note, the vet called and Diesel and Dolly came through the surgery just fine. I can’t wait to pick them up in the morning! We can get them at 10AM. We’ll be there with bells on
I know how you feel about spaying/neutering, and I completely agree. Diesel and Dolly came from a litter of eight - and their mother was abandoned when she was pregnant. It was incredibly hard not to adopt all eight of those puppies! They were all so cute and precious. Just hard to imagine someone could be so cruel and dump off a pregnant dog, with no regard for her or the pups.
Marmy - oh, stop with all your tough talk. You’re a marshmallow when it comes to your pets and you know it
Just ask Cedrick….
